Winchester Model 1886
One of the finest and best designed leverguns to come from Winchester, the Model 1886 was made in a very large number of configurations. It was a big improvement over the Model 1876 in every way. The levergun was an immediate hit with hunters, especially those who hunted large and dangerous game.
The Model 1886 was produced in 10 calibers:
.45-70 Government (the most popular)
The big levergun was made in Extra Lightweight models, Carbine, Musket, and various Sporting Rifle versions. It's production life was from 1886 to 1935.
Winchester has in recent years re-introduced some models, notably the '86, '92 and '71 in modern-made limited editions.
